After the terrible failures that came when different countries each tried to each set up their own small bases on the Moon, all the nations on Earth cooperated to established a base on Mars.
The new approach worked, and the international Mars mission has been working successfully for almost ten years. The struggle to establish and survive the early years has been replaced by the need to explore. Teams of astronauts now spend uncomfortable days in cramped rovers carefully exploring the unknown surface of the Red Planet.
